Why Do Wasps Invade Beehives?
Bees are very protective of their hives, so how come this happens? Why do wasps invade beehives? Their prime objective is to find an easy food supply source. As summer is about ready to turn into Autumn, wasps are looking for an alternative source of nutrients and at this time of year, beehives begin to struggle and are a fairly easy target.
Wasps are attracted to beehives because they hold an abundance of protein rich larvae and honey as the summer months come to an end, whereas other sources are not readily available to them.
The beehives have open doors, so wasps just go on in uninvited and take the easy pickings, while the bees are drousy during these months and no real deterrant.
